Good news for South Austin residents! You will soon enjoy the fun and fitness of BAM Academy without the hassle of a commute! On May 18, BAM owners signed the lease for the BAM Center located at South Park Commerce Center, south of TX-71.
The 25,680 sq. ft. facility is three times the size of the north location and will provide new opportunities to explore movement. In addition to the standard obstacles, BAM Center will offer a 3-5yr old training area, ballistic zone, outdoor training zone and a maze area. Those aren’t even the highlights…
“We have a performance side of the gym that will house theatrical performances as well as movement performances. The other part will be a parkour gym and multi-use movement space,” says owner/founder Matthew Lee Willis.
The movement venue will also include new amenities such as male/female bathrooms, air conditioning and even a shower.
The north location will remain open and operate normally. Gym members will have the option to train at whichever facility they prefer.
BAM hopes to open the south location later this year. “We will need all the help we can get to get this open on time and within our budget,” says owner/coach Ruben Olguin. “We are looking for people to volunteer their time. [We need] people to help organize fundraising teams, processes, carpenters and all the expertise that we need but don’t know about yet.”
BAM plans to hold two crowd-funding campaigns in order to fund the new location. More details to follow.
Keep an eye out for the BAM Center Indiegogo campaign coming soon. If you’d like to offer additional support for the BAM Center, please call our office at (512) 394-7434 or email us at info@thebamacademy with “South Support” in the subject line.
